From 1949 until 1952, he served as India’s second ambassador to the Soviet Union. In addition, he served as the second vice-chancellor of Andhra University from 1931 to 1936 as well as the fourth vice-chancellor of Banaras Hindu University from 1939 to 1948.
Radhakrishnan, who held the King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science at the University of Calcutta from 1921 to 1932 and the Spalding Chair of Eastern Religion and Ethics at the University of Oxford from 1936 to 1952,
is regarded as one of the most eminent and distinguished scholars of comparative religion and philosophy of the 20th century.
Advaita Vedanta served as the foundation for Radhakrishnan’s philosophy, which reinterpreted this tradition for a modern audience.
