In ODI versions of the Asia Cup, Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja has surpassed Irfan Pathan to capture the most wickets for India.
Tuesday’s Super Four stage match at the R. Premadasa Stadium against Sri Lanka saw Jadeja reach the milestone. In the game, he grabbed two wickets and lost 33 runs.
Irfan Pathan’s 22 wickets in 12 innings have been surpassed by the Indian left-arm spinner’s 24 wickets in 18 innings.

With 19 wickets in nine innings, Kuldeep Yadav is also in the running. Jadeja has taken the fifth-most wickets overall in the Asia Cup. With 30 scalps in 24 innings, Muthiah Muralidaran is in first place on the table.
At the R Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday, India’s bowling assault helped the team advance to the Asia Cup 2023 final with one game remaining after ending Sri Lanka’s trend of 13 consecutive victories in one-day international matches.
Both sides’ spinners dominated the match, but pacers also contributed to India’s 41-run triumph against the co-hosts.

Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka defeated Men in Blue for 213 thanks to belligerent bowlers Dunith Wellalage and Charith Asalanka who tore through India’s top order.
Wellalage, a young player, accomplished a spectacular feat when he secured his first 5-wicket haul, single-handedly shattering a tough Indian batting order and taking the wickets of star players like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya.

As a member of the side that won the championship, Jadeja received the man of the match award in 2013 ICC Champions Trophy as the tournament’s top wicket-taker. In first-class cricket, he plays for Saurashtra, and in the Indian Premier League, he has led the Chennai Super Kings.
With 194 wickets, Ravindra Jadeja is eighth among Indian ODI wicket-takers as of August 2023.
When Virat Kohli, a former Indian captain, captained the Indian U-19 cricket team in Malaysia in 2008, Jadeja served as vice-captain and helped lead the side to victory.

After the Chennai Super Kings were suspended from the IPL for two seasons, he was purchased by the Gujarat Lions for 9.5 crores in the 2016 IPL Players Auction.
When he defeated Sam Billings on January 22, 2017, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to record 150 One Day International wickets.
He passed Ravichandran Ashwin, who had held that position for a while, to become the world’s best bowler in March 2017.

Following MS Dhoni, he was named captain of the Chennai Super Kings IPL team for the 2022 IPL season. But he resigned in the middle of the campaign.
